Only 478km from central Johannesburg, Kuruman is known as the oasis of the Kalahari, with it’s natural fountain in the centre of town delivering around 20 million liters of crystal clear water daily. Commonly known as “The Eye” legend tells, that any who drink from it’s clear spring may never wish to leave Kuruman again.

Attractions

Robert Moffat, Scottish missionary, who translated the Bible into Tswana, lived here for 50 years. World-famous explorer, David Livingstone, lost his heart here to the daughter of the Reverend Moffat. On the main route between Gauteng and Namibia, and Cape Town via Upington, this area is an ideal stop over. Stay over with us en route to the Augrabies, Kgalagadi National Park, the Wild Flowers or come and stay for a week, a month and explore the Kalahari.

How to get there

From Vryburg, turn right at the first robot in Kuruman, proceed over a stop street and next robot. After two stop streets (Cashbuild on your right) turn left before the park, then right into Buckle Street. Kuru-Kuru Guest House is located on your left on the second corner, directly opposite the park.
