TARTARUGA MARITIMA is situated in the extreme south of the pristine Mozambique coastline, alongside Ponta Malongane and 16km from the South African border at Kosi Bay.

The private and exclusive, luxury and self-catering tented camp offers comfort and tranquility to the discerning nature lover and adventurer. The beautiful inland lakes and swamps, warm water, all-year round sub-tropical climate, coral reefs and adventure trails provide an ecosystem close to civilisation yet also away from the 'madding crowds'. The exclusive, yet rustic retreat, where South African rands are the preferred currency, is only accessible with a 4x4 vehicle.

Accommodation is in safari tents on raised platforms, and a raised boardwalk takes guests to their luxury accommodation set in a beautiful coastal dune forest. Walk to the beach or enjoy cooling off in a sparkling pool and relax in recliners set in amongst the trees.

How to get there


FROM THE SOUTH AFRICA | MOZAMBIQUE BORDER

Take the road to the left and follow the small blue signs for Tartaruga Maritima for about 13km until you reach the gate to Kangela Estates. Tartarunga is in Kangela Estates. 3 hours south of Maputo and just a 15 minute drive north of Ponta Do Ouro.

The road is very sandy and therefore only accessible with a 4x4 vehicle. Guest who do not have a 4x4 vehicle can leave their vehicles at the secure parking area about 100m from the Kosi Bay / Farazela border post on the South African side at a cost of R30 per day.
