Description

HAWKLEE COUNTRY HOUSE is set on 17 acres of unspoiled Midlands beauty, on the banks of the Lions River. We offer bed & breakfast accommodation in our 6 spacious free standing thatched cottages. All accommodation is en-suite and every Hawklee guest suite features a private Jacuzzi spa bath. Most of our cottages have beautiful views of the Lions River. We also have a beautiful private Honeymoon suite for that romantic occassion.

MALLARD
Honeymoon cottage named after the "Mallard" wild duck, the room offers superb river views and features a mezzanine lounge area from which you can relax with an excellent view of the Lions River, a four poster bed gives this cottage a true romantic feel.

GUINEA FOWL
A more secluded thatched cottage for those wanting some privacy, our favourite honeymoon cottage with a garden outlook and private balcony overlooking the Lions River.

THE ROSE
This delightful cottage offers complete privacy and is set in the gardens of the main country house, but does not have a view of the Lions River.

OWL & PUSSYCAT
A spacious cottage set in the gardens with a lovely queen bed that you can relax in and look at the view, the spacious lounge area has 2 leather couches which serve as sleeper couches for a family that allows you to sit and relax while watching the Lion's River flow by. While you spa you have a superb view of the Lion's river and birds and the wall above the Spa is dominated by an impressive mural.

OTTER & KINGFISHER
These two very comfortable cottages both offer Jacuzzi spas and private lounge areas with unmatched views of the river. The Kingfisher has 2 lovely leather couches in that serve as sleeper couches which can be utilized as a family room. These two cottages are our semi-luxury cottages with lovely new decor.

Delicious Country Cuisine dining is offered on the premises as well as a cozy pub.

Should you wish to take a gentle stroll and have a picnic alongside the river we offer picnic baskets full of delicious treats to tempt the taste buds.
We are close to all amenities of the Midlands Meander and the beautiful Drakensberg Mountains and only 1½ hours pleasurable drive to the coast.

Special Features

Country teas served on the terrace are a speciality and guests can order a picnic basket lunch to enjoy on the riverbank or while exploring the attractions of the surrounding countryside.

The traditional Sunday roast at Hawklee - with all the trimmings - has become a firm favourite with both guests and day-trippers, but its popularity requires advance booking.

There is a wide selection of fine wines, spirits and locally brewed lagers and ales at competitive prices.

We also provide picnic baskets for that romantic special occasion from R180.00 per basket.

Laze on the river bank under the shade of a tree with a basket of captivating aroma's and tastes to make your time spent here memorable.
