TULBAGH COUNTRY GUEST HOUSE is our guesthouse and the jewel in The Cape Dutch Quarters's crown.

Established in 1999, the guesthouse can accommodate up to 12 people in 5 en-suite bedrooms and suites. The guesthouse is situated in a 200-year-old manor house that was built in 1809 and retains all of its original features.

The guesthouse interiors are a blend of Cape and European antiques and furnishings, as well as original South African artworks, which creates a beautiful eye-catching collection. The atmosphere in the TULBAGH COUNTRY GUEST HOUSE is informal and comfortable, and guests are encouraged to make themselves at home in the lounge, dining room and old farm-style kitchen. We treat our guests as friends, and our visitor books sing the praises from around the earth of those who have succumbed to the charm and beauty of the Tulbagh Country Guest House.

On offer are 3 x king-sized luxury en-suite rooms, as well as a Family Suite that sleeps four people in two rooms, with an ensuite bathroom. Also available at the guesthouse is a single suite with ensuite shower and toilet. All matresses in the guesthouse are of the highest quality and our linen is 100% cotton percale.

Attractions

The guesthouse manor is a classic 'H-shaped' house, the epitome of grand Cape Dutch living, and has been beautifully restored to its former glory, and is situated on Tulbagh's historic Church Street.

The owners of the guesthouse have taken great care to retain the authentic atmosphere of this lovely home with its yellowwood floors, ceilings and grand rooms, as well as the antiques and art that are on display throughout the guesthouse and in all the rooms.


 

Special Features

Breakfast is always a treat. Served in the grand diningroom on a table spread with antique crockery, silver cutlery - and always accompanied by Mozart!

Our guesthouse's 3-course 'Country Breakfast' has won appraisals in publications from several countries such as the New Yorker magazine and the Lonely Planet. During the winter months, breakfast is served in the guesthouse's more intimate farm-style kitchen next to a blazing hearth.

How to get there


DRIVING FROM CAPE TOWN (130KM)

Take the N1 towards Paarl for half an hour. Exit left at Exit for Klapmuts / Wellington R44 (before Paarl).

Turn left at the T junction and continue 15 minutes to Wellington. On entering Wellington, turn left at the traffic lights (with the R44). The sign reads 'Distillery Road - Hermon / Ceres’. Continue for 30 minutes and through the Nuwekloof Pass.

Continue 5 minutes through the pass and then follow the Tulbagh signs left into town. At the T junction turn left into Tulbagh Main Road / Van Der Stel Road.
