The Wild Coast
With East London as the gateway, the Wild Coast stretches some 500 kilometers up the South Eastern tip of Africa. Rural, remote and undeveloped, the Wild Coast is one of the most beautiful, un-spoilt coastlines in the world.Centre to the tradition of the Xhosa tribe and the birthplace of Nelson Mandela and many famous Xhosa leaders, this is truly one of the centers of South African culture and history.
It is sometimes difficult to access this region. One of the best ways is to use the coastal towns (often considered as part of the Wild Coast) of Kei Mouth, Cintsa, Sunrise-on-Sea and perhaps Gonubie as a base. These towns are beautifully situated on magnificent beaches and surrounded by typical Eastern Cape flora and fauna.
Supported by the holiday resorts of Haga Haga; Marsh Strand; Glen Muir; Glen Eden and others, this region is a nature lovers paradise.
